The way forwards
It is intended that the conference
should be the first in a series of biennial or triennial conferences. The
Brighton conference will be the occasion when either a European rural history
society or a continuation committee of some sort will be formed. We are aware
that this has prompted some debate in the international networks and the
national societies. As a contribution towards this debate, we will post papers
arguing for different courses of action beginning with one prepared by
Professor Yves Segers of the Catholic University of Leuven. Further submissions
are welcome.
